Meghali’s Silk

Meghali Das , since childhood, has been passionately experiencing the work of naturally gifted weavers around her and this has led her to creatively transform the passion into fairy tales on famous Pure Assam Silk and Weaving as a profession.

Since early 90s and taking lead from these unique hand woven fabrics, she has started to convert creative imagination into elegant design which is rich in tradition and sparkle vibrant colours. Meghali nurtures creativity with innovative design focusing on simplicity & elegance with designs for woven, knitted or printed fabrics or gloriously rich Indian aesthetic clothes and dress materials of quality in its products .

Her Entrepreneurial Journey

I starting my small business from 2011 as a non academic designer n make many beautiful mekhela chador n kurta as i had seen from childhood inherited from my mother weaving her own mekhela chador and inspiring me to start my new journey of colourful life in handloom adds Meghali Das the promoter of Meghali Silk .
Starting with two looms in 2012 unofficially presently I have total 25 looms and 50 weavers are working with our industry helping the rural artisans to grow employeed and strengthen the economy with livelihoods. We manufacture specially muga mulberry silk eri cotton nooni mekhela chador sarees, stoles and also fabric for dress material. We customised our product for our valuable costumer based on requirements.

Today Meghali Silk is known for its distinctive use of colors, quality of fabrics, intricate embroideries and a gloriously rich Indian aesthetic clothes and dress materials of quality in its products and striving for excellence and continuous growth with expansion in business growth.
We produce natural dye mekhela chador and stoles and as an authorised house of silk mark we produced 100%pure silk products and dresses keeping the rich heritage of handloom textile alive and enrich our traditional weaving culture.

She also an executive member of NEWEA she tries to help many SHG and business women to become woman entrepreneurs and do other social activities. As a secretary of women entrepreneurs group called SANEKEE –the group organised many exhibitions to give a market place for SGH Weavers and Entrepreneurs across Assam and rural places.
Meghali Silk has patronized several organizations and youths and artisans working in rural areas and helped in developing skills and taking them to the market. Recently to generate self employment a skill up gradation training programme of 20 women on weaving frame loom of handloom & textiles under Samarth scheme sponsored by DC handloom ministry of textiles Govt of India in association with WSC centre Guwahati for 45 days from 20.6.2023 to 11.8.2023 was completed, adds Meghali Das the promoter of Meghali Silk.
