Her Entrepreneurial Journey

Kiran Boro: Weaving Resilience from Assam to the World

In the year 2015, Kiran Boro founded the Kkiran Foundation in Assam
with a simple but powerful purpose – to strengthen communities through skill, dignity and opportunity.

The foundation focused on social and economic development, working at the grassroots level to create sustainable change. She strengthened and expanded her initiative through the Sipini Weaving Centre, a focused project that transformed survival into strategy. Beginning with 15 dedicated artisans, the centre became both a workplace and a revival space – a space where traditional Eri silk weaving and bamboo craftsmanship were not only preserved but reimagined. The approach was clear: combine heritage with modern demand.
Eri silk, known for its softness, durability, and eco-friendly production, became the foundation.Bamboo, sustainable and abundant in the region, added structure and innovation. Together, they evolved into a distinctive line of Eri silk and handcrafted jewellery pieces that carried cultural depth with contemporary appeal.

In 2024-2025, Kiran Boro represented at AF – L’Artigiano in Fiera in Milan, presenting jewellery and textiles born in rural workshops to a global market. Milan marked a defining milestone – but not the only one. Kiran Boro has showcased her work in various other global platforms like London and participated in exhibitions across Thailand and Vietnam.
